More and more people opt for a hair removal treatment – this number was at only 3.1 million worldwide in 2006, but nowadays we’re talking about more than 6 million treatments.
SHR stands for Super Hair Removal – a step ahead when it comes to permanent hair removal. This technology was developed by Alma Lasers in Israel and is currently the most advanced way of removing unwanted hair.
SHR is faster than the traditional IPL and laser treatments. Moreover, SHR is safer and painless. The sHR method is virtually free from side effects and you will be surprised by the results.
Also nice: unlike a laser treatment, the sHR method is suitable for all types of skin – including a darker skin. The type of hair doesn’t make a difference, either.
This is how SHR works
Unlike treatments whereby the skin is treated with great amounts of energy (Joules), when it comes to the sHR method, melanine is only partially used. Combined with In-Motion Technology, both the skin and hair follicle are slowly warmed up.
With SHR, the protein in the stem cells are targeted – which is also the reason why darker skin types can benefit from this treatment. When proteins are warmed up above 43 degrees Celsius, they lose their vital properties. The process of warming up is slow, which prevents the risk of burns and blisters and makes the treatment pleasant in comparison to IPL or laser treatment. The machine head goes over the treatment zone multiple times (“in motion”), with a repetitive pulse. This is how the stem cells are eventually disabled.
A couple of facts
- The machine that is used for SHR filters out unneccessary wavelengths that are not necessary for the treatment, making the treatment virtually painless.
- SHR is suitable for all skin types and all hair types can be treated, including blonde and grey hair. Even a tanned skin can be treated. However, it is not advisable to sunbathe during the treatment period.
- On average, 6 to 10 treatments are needed. This way there is enough time to make sure that the hairs are effectively eliminated during the growth phase. It takes about 2 to 3 weeks for the hairs to fall out – it is often not really visible yet at that time. This involves a gradual reduction of hair in a safe, clinically proven manner.
- During the treatment period, hairs can not be waxed or plucked out. SHR focuses on the root of the hair, so it is important that it remains intact for the best possible results. It is however fine to shave or cut the hair.
