LED light therapy is a completely painless form of therapy for the skin, which provides rejuvenating results. It is a gentle and softening method whereby no heat is generated, which is for example the case with IPL. Better yet, it is a relaxing treatment. This form of skin therapy is ideal for people who would like to boost the production of collagen in the skin, or want a treatment against acne.
With LED light therapy, the eyes do not require to be shielded.
What is LED light therapy suitable for?
You can use LED light therapy to tackle the following issues in order to improve the skin:
- Acne and other impurities
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Superficial scarring
- Big pores and a rough skin texture
LED light therapy can also be used to promote wound healing, after a cosmetic or medical intervention and against skin aging.
This is how LED light therapy works
For the improvement of the skin, a LED mask with 495 LED lights is used, which emits light waves to the skin, which penetrate either superficially or on a deeper level. How deeply the LED light penetrates depends on the color of the light that is used. Subsequently the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluron in the skin is stimulated. Any wrinkles shall fade and the skin will have a firmer, more youthful appearance.
The great thing about LED light therapy is that it is suitable for all skin types, for both men and women of all ages, and it has no adverse effects on the body.
Wavelengths of LED light therapy
LED light therapy is carried out in three different wavelengths. For this, different colors are used. The color for the treatment depends on the desired result.
Blue light against acne (415nm)
The blue light is the one that penetrates least deep into the skin. LED light therapy with blue light therefore works mainly on a superficial level. This wavelength is ideal for treating acne, skin blemishes and blackheads.
The light causes the release of oxygen radicals, which destroy the proprionibacterium (which causes acne) without damaging the healthy skin.
Red light against wrinkles (630nm)
The red light penetrates deeper into the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This in turn stimulates the production of fibroblasts, which has a skin-improving effect. The skin will have a better structure, becomes tighter and more voluminous. The blood circulation is also stimulated.
LED light therapy with red light helps reduce the signs of aging, amongst others wrinkles around the eyes. It is also used to treat pigment spots, wounds, sagging skin and sun damage.
Invisible light (830nm)
The invisible light penetrates to about 30-40 mm into the skin. It provides healing energy and improves blood circulation. Because it is so well absorbed by the skin, the living tissue will heal.
LED light therapy for home use
There are also devices for use at home, however these are not recommended because they can not provide the same results as the device of a beautician, seeing as the devices for home use are weaker.
A treatment with LED light therapy stimulates the production of collagen, fights bacteria that cause acne and reduces wrinkles. The firmness and elasticity of the skin is also improved, as well as the blood circulation.
The treatment is completely painless and is even perceived as pleasant. It is suitable for all skin types, for both men and women and has no adverse effects on the skin.
