What exactly is botox?
Not everything that is injected into the face is botox. Botox is just the name for the substance botulinum toxin. It is the best known and most tested brand on the market, the result of years of research.
Botox basically works as a muscle relaxant, causing wrinkles to become less visible or even disappear completely. The face will get a different appearance. You will be able to enjoy the results of a treatment for about 3 to 6 months.
If I start it, will be able to stop?
Rumor has it that once you start with botox, you will use the injections for the rest of your life and that, when you stop using them, your face will become wrinkled and looking worse than it did before you started using botox. A scary rumor, but luckily far from the truth.
When you stop using botox treatments, your face will be restored to how it was and the muscles in the face will regain their fulls strength.
In fact, because you have not made use of certain muscles for a longer period of time, it might be that your wrinkles are less than pronounced than they were before.
Will botox give me an emotionless expression?
It is certainly possible that too much botox can cause an emotionless expression.
However, when you are getting treated by an expert physician, you will not need to worry about this and you will be able to expect a relaxed, fresh look as a result.
Always discuss your wishes with your physician and what you expect from the botox treatment.
Botox and side effects
Side effects as a result of a botox treatment are rare and always reversible. When the result is not as desired, you can simply stop the treatments and everything will revert back to its original state.
Is botox only suitable for wrinkles?
No – botox is not only suitable for cosmetic procedures. Botox injections are also used to treat migraine by reducing muscle tension and exerting less pressure on the nervous system. Botox can also be used to temporarily block the sweat glands in order to prevent excessive sweating.
